This outfit of the day wasn't just your average "dress your best because you'll never know who you meet" day. This time I knew who I was meeting and I knew I needed to impress -because I had an interview with Hola! Magazine.
DRESS - H&M
HEELS - MICHAEL KORS

Every day you see crowds of people in New York City going to and from their corporate jobs in plain dress shirts and slacks or the occasional blouse and pencil skirt. Not everyone is confined to the constraints of a corporate dress code, but for many fashionistas looking to enter the business world, it's our worst nightmare. But just like with anything else, rules are made to be broken - or at least bent. So I'm going to let you in on my little dress code loophole and show you what I wear to legitimate corporate interviews. And by the way... I got the job.
The outfit I put together isn't really a no brainer but it is something a lot of people with corporate jobs feel uncomfortable wearing to the office. I understand why, but putting yourself out there can be such a huge advantage in a world of suits and sameness. My dress was such a bargain, around $30 at H&M and has a very "Kate Middleton vibe" - according to my Mother. I'm eternally grateful that she made me buy this. The base of the dress is a dark navy, nearly black, color that makes the pastel flowers pop. The flowers are in the same color family as the background so it isn't too overwhelming, while the thin green vines add contrast and movement. The material isn't too thin or thick, perfect for all year round, and it is lined of course. The boat neckline is extremely flattering and shows off just enough collarbone, while the belt cinches in at the waist. My favourite way to style it is to tie it in a little bow at the front. Just to give it a little something. The cut of the dress literally gives you an hourglass figure even if you don't have one. To contrast the femininity of the dress I paired it with my favourite black "I Mean Business" pointed toe heels and my trusty Ralph Lauren satchel. This bag is such a staple, it matches everything and fits everything. Seriously.
Aaaaanddd there you have it! A job interview appropriate outfit that doesn't look like business professional but says "I Mean Business."
